How can we prevent Wi-Fi from being hacked?

As we said, the number of hackers who are persuaded to hack Wi-Fi Internet networks is increasing, and they are looking to hack Wi-Fi networks to gain access to some data and information. Wi-Fi networks can be used both at home and in organizations and companies. For this reason, company owners use some methods to prevent hackers from accessing Wi-Fi. However, it is possible to connect and access Wi-Fi through Access Points. Wi-Fi signals can pass through buildings and can even go up to floors. It is even possible for Wi-Fi network signals to cross the street.

In some companies, business owners allow their employees to connect to Wi-Fi, or in some other situations, homeowners allow their guests to connect to a home Wi-Fi network. They are connected.

A router is one of the most important communication devices. In other words, it can be said that a router is one of the tools and devices that can be used as a communication gateway to access the Internet. The only security measure that some people take is choosing a password for their home and Wi-Fi network to maintain or  increase network security. But it should be noted that choosing a password for the Wi-Fi network is not the only solution, and in this way, it is not possible to maintain or increase the security of the Wi-Fi network.

Here are some solutions that can be used to maintain or increase the security of the Wi-Fi Internet network:

1- Determining the location of the router:

You may also be interested in the fact that the location of the Wi-Fi in your home or organization can affect its security. The better the wireless router is in the center, the better the router is in the center of the home or organization.

- The possibility of balanced access to the router from all parts of the house and rooms of the organization.

2- Faraday Cage:

This may happen due to the amount and type of metals used in your building. Phosphates can absorb signals and prevent them from passing through. In other words, the metals used can receive Wi-Fi signals and block their passage, which is called a Faraday cage. This phenomenon, called the Faraday cage, can absorb Wi-Fi signals. Still, it should be noted that this phenomenon can be absorbed and used in the Wi-Fi network at home due to the presence of metals and prevent the passage of annoying signals.

If your building or organization's walls have foil insulation, Wi-Fi signals will not be able to pass through these walls. The presence of some metal windows can also, to some extent, prevent the Wi-Fi signal from passing through the windows and glass. Hard walls, which are made of metal, can, to some extent, prevent the passage and exit of the Internet signal.

3- Change the default Wi-Fi name:

It is better to change the default Wi-Fi name and choose a custom name for it. Doing this can reduce the possibility of hacking the Wi-Fi to some extent. This is so that hackers, knowing and seeing the name of the Wi-Fi, can easily guess its password and infiltrate that network. Because not changing the name of Wi-Fi is a weakness, and hackers can easily use this weakness.

So, it is better to change its name to increase or maintain the security of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi name or in other words SSID (Service Set Identifier: is that it is better to change the name after the first Wi-Fi is turned on. The name and phrase that should be in this section can be 32 characters. Important Note) If you choose the phrase Can't hack this as the name of the Wi-Fi, it will encourage hackers to do so more than anything.

Phrases like John's Wi-Fi are also better not to be chosen as the name of the network because, in this case, hackers are better able to guess the information and data related to it. Choosing a normal network name is better and avoid entering any personal and additional information in the Wi-Fi name.

4- Choose a strong password:

When choosing a password for your Wi-Fi, it is better to use passwords that are not too simple than easily guessed by hackers. Although there is a WEP (  Wired Equivalent Privacy  ) protection standard for networks, some hackers are very professional and can easily hack Wi-Fi using some hacking suites like Aircrack-ng. To prevent hackers from hacking, it is best to use the WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) security standard for networks. This security standard has two modes, WPA2 or WPA3.

From 2006, all Wi-Fi used the WPA2 security standard, a very secure version of the security standard.  The WPA security standard  can be used for small businesses and homes. With this security standard, all employees of the organization or family members can use a common password to connect to the network. In this case, network security depends on whether employees of the organization or family members share the password with other people. If one of the employees leaves the organization, it is better to change the password.

5- WPS Restriction:

Some Wi-Fi has WPS (Wireless Protect Setup) feature, which can provide a simple way to connect to the network. Suppose there is a WPS button on the back of your router. In that case, you can press that button to send a signal, and through this signal, without having to enter security information and password, enter the system and connect the system to the Internet...

Alternatively, they use 8-digit codes, but it should be noted that breaking the 8-digit code is easy and can be easily hacked.

6- Using strong WPA passwords:

You must be careful to choose a long and strong Wi-Fi password to reduce the possibility of hacking the Wi-Fi password to some extent. A good and strong code is a code that has uppercase and lowercase letters, has symbols and numbers, and is about 20 characters. It is better to have fewer letters and numbers between these characters than make it less possible for hackers to guess the password. 7- Changing the IP address:

It is better to change the default IP address and not use the default IP addresses.

- First, it is better to enter your respective IP address in the browser.

- Then, enter your username and password.
